Not sure what craft insurance you actually need?

Insurance can feel complicated. We’ve made it simple. There are three types of craft cover, and they work in a clear order: you start with the essential foundation, then add what your situation requires. No paying for cover you don’t need.

Three types of craft cover. One straightforward policy.

Our craft business insurance is built around a simple structure. Public and product liability is your essential base with everything else is an optional add-on.
You choose only what you need, and your policy reflects exactly that.

The three types of craft cover start with the essentials, add what you need.

Public & Product Liability
Insurance (required)

This is where every policy starts. Crafters public liability insurance protects you if a member of the public is injured, or their property is damaged, as a result of your craft activities or the products you sell. Product liability for craft businesses covers you whether you’re selling at a craft fair, online, through a rent-a-shelf arrangement, or via another retailer.

Professional indemnity is included as standard, so you’re covered to teach and demonstrate your craft too. N.b. we now automatically include £500,000 professional indemnity with every policy, at no extra cost.

A few things to know before getting started...

Your cover moves with you.

Because the policy is not premises-specific, we only need your correspondence address. If you have a workshop, studio or home workspace, you’re automatically covered there too.

And whether you’re at a craft fair in Cardiff or a market in Edinburgh, your cover comes with you.

No need to tell us about every event.

There’s no requirement to notify us each time you attend a fair, market or show. Your craft cover works in the background at unlimited events, indoors and outdoors, throughout your policy period. Just turn up and trade.

No hidden fees. Ever.

Need to make a change to your policy? Go ahead. We charge no admin fees for amendments and no cancellation fees ever. Other insurers charge £15 or more just to update your details. We think that’s wrong. Your policy should be as flexible as your craft business.

You’ll always speak to a real person.

If your quote refers, if you have a question, or if you just want someone to talk you through what you need, our team is here. You’ll always reach a real person, not a chatbot or an automated system. That’s always been part of how we work, and it always will be.

Craft Insurance is proudly one of the family. We exist for crafters and we always will.

If you have any questions about the Craft Insurance Policy, you may be able to find your answer in the frequently asked questions below…

Craft insurance in the UK typically covers public and product liability, protecting you if a member of the public is injured or their property is damaged as a result of your craft activity or products. At Craft Insurance, your base policy also includes professional indemnity cover as standard, so you’re insured to teach and demonstrate your craft as well as sell it.

You can then add optional cover for employers liability (if you have staff or helpers) and business and stock cover (for your tools, equipment, materials, and money). All cover is available to individuals, sole traders, hobbyists, craft clubs and registered businesses across the UK.

If you make, sell, teach or demonstrate your craft, whether as a hobby, a side income, or a full-time business, you almost certainly need some form of crafters insurance UK.

Most craft fairs, markets and events require proof of public liability insurance before you can take a stall. Our craft insurance policies are suitable for independent crafters and hobbyists, sole traders and self-employed makers, partnerships and registered craft businesses, and craft clubs and societies. If you sell online, through other retailers, or via rent-a-shelf arrangements, product liability cover is also essential and it’s included in every policy we offer.

The cost of craft insurance in the UK depends on your level of cover, your turnover, and the optional add-ons you choose. Because we specialise exclusively in craft insurance, we understand the actual risks involved which means we don’t overcharge to cover unknowns the way general insurers often do.

There are no admin fees for amendments, no cancellation fees, and no hidden costs. You can also spread the cost across 12 monthly payments at 0% interest. The best way to find out your exact price is to get a quote online in minutes. It takes less time than you think.

No. Your Craft Insurance policy covers you for an unlimited number of indoor and outdoor events throughout your policy period; craft fairs, markets, shows, exhibitions and demonstrations. There’s no need to arrange separate short-period craft insurance for each event you attend.

The same policy also covers your product liability for online sales, rent-a-shelf arrangements, and selling through other shops or retailers, all under one straightforward policy.

We are the UK’s most established dedicated craft insurance company.

Unlike general insurers or comparison sites, craft insurance is all we do, and that focus makes a real difference. We understand your risks in a way our competitors simply don’t, which allows us to offer comprehensive cover with very few exclusions and competitive pricing.

Other providers often have surprising gaps in their cover, for example, some exclude home fragrances, reed diffusers, or products made by the policyholder rather than branded goods. We charge no admin fees for policy changes. Professional indemnity is included as standard. And when you need to talk to someone, you always speak to a real person.

We don’t just sell craft insurance, we help you understand what you need, walk you through your options, and support you if you ever need to make a claim.
