What personal information do we collect?
We collect personal information such as your contact details, financial details, and other personal details. Please note, in certain circumstances we may request “sensitive” personal information about you. For example, we may need details of criminal offences or bankruptcies for the purposes of providing a quote. This information may be shared with insurers.
Where Ian W Wallace Ltd is the data controller of your personal information we may collect the following about you:
- Contact details such as name, postal address, email address and telephone number
- Details of any other persons included on the policy where they are named
- Financial information such as bank details or credit/debit card details
- Information relevant to your insurance policy such as the nature of your business activities and previous claims
- Any information that may give rise to a claim
- Details of bankruptcies and other financial sanctions
- Your marketing preferences

- Details regarding criminal convictions and charges
How do we use your personal information?
We only collect, use and store your information where we have lawful grounds and legitimate business reasons to do so.
We mainly use your information to provide quotations and policies and to administer and manage your policy. However, there are a number of other reasons why we use your personal information, please see below.

Provide quotes for our Craft Insurance policy and administrate and manage your insurance policy.

Carry out financial crime checks
The use of your data is essential for us to check your identity, to enable you to enter into an insurance contract and for the insurance to operate (in the event of a claim, for example). We may also use it keep our records up to date, to notify you about changes to our service and to help us in develop new products and services.
If you do not provide the information required we are unlikely to be able to arrange your insurance and may not be able to provide certain services to you.
We will only share your personal information to other parties where such a transfer is a necessary part of the activities that we undertake, where you give us consent or where we are required to do so by law or regulation.
As an intermediary we must disclose personal information to the insurance companies, underwriting agencies and other parties in order to provide our products and services and to enable you to enter into insurance contracts. Other parties may include loss adjusters, regulatory bodies or legal and accountancy firms involved in the claims handling process.
We use a third party marketing company to serve our newsletter and blogs on our behalf across the internet. If you have consented to receive the newsletter, we may share some of your personal information with them. We only share your information if we are satisfied that our partners or suppliers have sufficient measures in place to protect your information in the same way that we do.
We never share your information outside our organisation for marketing purposes.
Transfer of personal data outside the UK
Certain personal information held on our Information Technology systems may be transferred across geographical borders in accordance with applicable law.
By providing us with your information, you consent to the collection, international transfer, storage, and processing of your information. The right not to be subjected to automated-decision making. We do not use profiling, but our Craft Insurance application is automated. There may be occasions when more information is required before a quote can be provided, you will be invited to call us in these situations.
